SWANNANOA, N.C. – The William Peace men's lacrosse team moved to 4-0 on the season Wednesday afternoon with an 11-4 road victory over Warren Wilson.
The Pacers jumped out early, taking a 3-0 lead in the first quarter behind goals from Aidan McNeely and Caleb Garey. Garey added two more scores in the opening half as Peace built a 4-0 lead at the half.
Isaac Pike opened the third quarter scoring to extend the lead to 5-0 before Warren Wilson found the net late in the period. William Peace responded with a dominant fourth quarter, scoring six times to put the game out of reach.
Garey led the offense with four goals and one assist for five points, continuing his strong start to the season. Dylan Sullivan added two goals and an assist, while William English, Tyveon Brock, Pike, McNeely, and Jacob Jackson each scored.
Defensively, Peace limited Warren Wilson to just 19 total shots and forced 41 turnovers. Carson McGee recorded eight saves in goal to secure the win.
Head coach Troy Humphrey credited his team's effort despite dealing with adversity. "We had several players just returning from sickness and several did not travel with us today. We battled and made strides in several areas. On to the next one, we're excited for our doubleheader with the women on Sunday!"
William Peace now sits at 4-0 overall and will return home Sunday for a lacrosse doubleheader. The women will play at 11 a.m., followed by the men at 2 p.m.
