Pacers Sweep Day Two at Cougar Classic

DANVILLE, Va. – William Peace University volleyball closed out Day Two of the Averett University Cougar Classic in dominant fashion, recording back-to-back sweeps over Bob Jones University and host Averett University. With the two victories, the Pacers improved to 3–1 overall on the season.

In the opener against Bob Jones, the Pacers controlled the tempo from the first serve, winning in straight sets (25–19, 26–24, 25–17). Freshman outside hitter Caitlin Bailey led the offense with 11 kills on a .318 hitting percentage, while Aubrey Chesson added 10 kills and 9 digs. Aaliyah Anderson continued her strong weekend debut with 9 kills and 2 blocks, while setter Maegan Brylski dished out 31 assists and contributed in 11 digs. Libero Gracie Payne anchored the defense with 14 digs.

In the afternoon match up against host Averett, the Pacers carried their momentum into another sweep (26–24, 25–21, 25–14). Chesson led the way with 13 kills and 4 service aces, totaling a match-high 17 points. Anderson contributed 10 kills and 3 blocks, while Jordyn Chinigo added 6 kills on a .417 hitting percentage with 4 block assists. Brylski efficiently ran the offense with 29 assists, 10 digs, and 3 service aces, while Payne steadied the back row again with 15 digs. 

The Pacers finished the weekend with a 3–1 record at the Cougar Classic and will return home with momentum as they prepare for the annual Raleigh Invitational tournament that kicks off Froday, Septermber 5th.
