BREVARD, N.C. — William Peace softball came away with a road split at Brevard on Friday afternoon, falling 5-1 in game one before bouncing back with a 9-2 win in the second game.
In game one, the Pacers struggled to generate offense, managing just five hits in the 5-1 loss. The Tornados broke the game open with three runs in the fifth inning, while WPU's lone run came in the sixth off an RBI single from Isabelle Olson that scored Reagan Stewart.
Stewart also had a double at the plate and pitched four innings, allowing three earned runs. The Tornados racked up 12 hits and stole five bases in the win.
The Pacers came out swinging in game two. They scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back, finishing with 11 hits and capitalizing on Brevard's miscues. Olson hit a double to score a run in the opening frame, and Stewart added an RBI in the third.
Kimberly Bordeaux had a standout day in the circle and at the plate. She threw a complete game, allowing no earned runs and striking out eight, while also going 2-for-4 with an RBI double. Kiersten Cox tripled and drove in two, while Jaylen Gonzalez added a triple and an RBI.
With the split, William Peace moves to 18-16 overall and 5-9 in USA South play.
