Six Pacers Homer in Day One Sweep of Triangle Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. - Game One: The William Peace softball team put on an offensive showcase, securing a 12-6 victory over Elmira behind a 16-hit performance.

The Pacers wasted no time getting on the board, as Isabelle Olson launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to set the tone. The bats stayed hot in the second inning with a five-run outburst, highlighted by Cierra Lear's three-run home run and key RBI hits from Taryn Shelton and Kiersten Cox.

Despite a three-run homer from Elmira in the fourth that cut the lead to 7-3, William Peace responded with another four-run inning in the fifth. Taylor Byrd delivered an RBI double, while Shelton cleared the bases with a three-RBI double to extend the lead. Byrd added a solo home run in the sixth for extra insurance.

On the mound, Reagan Stewart started for the Pacers, pitching four innings with five strikeouts, while Haley Joyce shut down Elmira over the final three innings, allowing just two hits and striking out one to earn the save.

Game Two:

In a thrilling back-and-forth battle, the William Peace softball team secured a 9-7 victory over Piedmont with a late three-run seventh inning.

The Pacers started strong, as Adanya Day crushed a two-run homer in the first inning to give William Peace an early lead. However, Piedmont answered back quickly, plating three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 advantage.

William Peace kept the pressure on, tying the game in the third on an RBI single from Byrd and then pulling ahead in the fourth with another home run from Day, this time a two-run blast. The Pacers tacked on another run in the fifth on an RBI single from Caroline Burdsal, making it a 6-3 game.

Piedmont came back in the sixth, scoring four runs to reclaim the lead at 7-6. But the Pacers had the final say, with a decisive seventh-inning rally. Marissa Fuller tied the game with an RBI single before Burdsal blasted a go ahead two-run home run.

On the mound, Kim Bordeaux battled through 5.2 innings before Marissa Fuller came in to earn the win, while Joyce closed the door in the seventh.

The Pacers are back in action for Day Two of the Triangle Classic when they face NYU at 9:30 AM and Randolph-Macon College at 12 PM.
