RALEIGH, N.C. - The William Peace men's tennis team picked up two solid wins in a hard-fought home match against USA South conference opponent Brevard College on Friday afternoon.
Despite the 5-2 final in favor of the Tornados, the Pacers grabbed one win in doubles and a thrilling three-set victory in singles play.
The #3 duo of Angel Araiza and Ivan Ponce came out dominant, securing a 6-1 win over Brevard's Seon/Cardwell to give the Pacers momentum early in the match.
At the top of the singles lineup, Juliann Starland delivered a fantastic performance in the #1 spot. After dropping the second set, Starland regrouped through a super tiebreak to clinch the win 6-4, 0-6, 11-9, earning a statement victory over Brevard's Bryce Bernitt.
Chapman Kinlaw also came up big at the #4 singles spot, grabbing a straight-set win 6-1, 7-5 to round out the Pacers' two points on the day.
