RALEIGH, N.C. – The William Peace University men's basketball team fell to Mary Baldwin 83-61 in a USA South Conference match up on Saturday afternoon at the Hermann Athletic Center.
The Pacers fought hard in the first half but trailed 37-26 at halftime. Despite a strong performance from Michael Dulin, who led WPU with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, Mary Baldwin pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Pacers 46-35.
Tyler Whitehurst contributed 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 8-of-8 free throws, while Elijah Cathcart added 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. The Pacers struggled with efficiency, shooting 38.6% from the field and 28.1% from three-point range, compared to Mary Baldwin's 55.2% shooting and 58.8% from behind the arc.
Mary Baldwin capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 14 points off offensive rebounds, while their bench contributed 50 points to secure the win.
William Peace (3-17, 1-8 USA South) will look to bounce back in their next conference match up on Wednesday, February 12th at 7 PM against N.C. Wesleyan.
