LYNCHBURG, V.A. - The William Peace Pacers kicked off their season with a tough road match up against Lynchburg, ultimately falling 6-1. Despite the loss, freshman Juliann Starland earned an impressive singles victory, securing the lone win for the Pacers in an intense three-set battle.
After dropping the first set 4-6 against Lynchburg's Shadi Kallel, Starland took the second set 7-5. With momentum on his side, he controlled the third-set tiebreaker, closing it out 10-5 to give the Pacers their first individual win of the season.
The Pacers will look to build on this effort into their next contest as they head to Ferrum next Saturday, March 1st for a 2 PM match up.
