RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace volleyball came up just short, falling in a five-set match to N.C. Wesleyan (22-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-10) inside the Hermann Athletic Center.
The Pacers (7-9, 0-4 USA South) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the match after taking the first two sets behind strong play at the net and efficient serving.
Aaliyah Anderson powered the attack with a team-high 14 kills, while Aubrey Chesson followed with 12 kills. Sarah Yates also reached double figures with 11 kills.
At the net, Jordyn Chinigo added six kills and a pair of blocks, and Caitlin Bailey chipped in two kills in the last set of action.
Senior setter Maegan Brylski directed the offense with 41 assists while also adding three service aces. Gracie Payne was steady defensively, leading the back row with 20 digs and three aces of her own, while Savannah Hairr and Tameka Adams combined for 12 digs.
The Pacers will look to bounce back in conference play when they return to action this weekend as they head to Fayetteville to take on Methodist at 1 PM.
