Men's Soccer Battles Bridgewater To Scoreless Tie

CARY, N.C. – William Peace battled Bridgewater to a hard-fought 0-0 men's soccer tie at WakeMed Soccer Park on Wednesday.

This was the second straight time both teams played to a tie in Cary, N.C. In 2022, the final score was 2-2.

The contest was scoreless despite the Pacers (1-1-1 overall) putting pressure on the Eagles throughout the matchup. The Pacers totaled 19 shots while limiting the Eagles to five shots.

Standout forward Jorge Lemus took five shots, including one where he maneuvered around several Eagles outside the box before firing the ball just over the crossbar in the second half. The trio of Brennan Lagana, Daniel Romanchok and Ausar Omwenga each shot twice.

The Pacers' defense squashed Bridgewater's attack once the Eagles (0-1-2 overall) crossed midfield. WPU goalkeeper Rafa Quevedo-Antunez recorded one save on five Eagles' shot attempts.

William Peace has not given up a goal in their last two games. Since late last season, the Pacers have shut out five opponents in seven contests.

Despite their edge in shots, the Pacers were in an intense, physical contest against their third consecutive ODAC opponent Wednesday. The teams combined for 25 fouls and three yellow cards.

William Peace is home again Saturday to face Randolph at WakeMed Soccer Park. The contest begins at noon.
