Volleyball Win Streak At 6 After Convincing Conference Victories

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Red-hot William Peace continued its winning ways on Saturday.

The Pacers defeated Greensboro and Mary Baldwin by 3-0 scores in a USA South tri-match. It was the sixth consecutive victory for the Pacers, who upped their conference record to 3-0.

William Peace (10-4 overall) has yet to drop a set in three USA South matches. The Pacers are off to their best start since 2022 when they began the season with nine consecutive victories.

The Pacers made an early-season statement against Greensboro, picked to finish second in the USA South. William Peace, predicted to place third, took care of business with a 25-22, 25-14, 25-21 victory. The Pacers defeated Mary Baldwin by a convincing 25-9, 25-17, 25-6 score.

"I was very impressed with the grit and resilience of the team today," Pacers' Head Coach Hannah Marshall said. "Greensboro and Mary Baldwin are historically physically and mentally challenging opponents for us, but the entire team was able to come together and play as one today."

Sarah Yates recorded 13 kills while Georgia Grace Anderson and Jordyn Chinigo added seven kills apiece. Maegan Brylski tallied 36 assists, 13 digs and three aces and Anderson totaled four blocks. Defensively, Jordan Juanes and Vivian Camplin had 18 and 16 digs, respectively.

After falling behind 17-10 in the first set, the Pacers came back to win 24-21. Trailing 21-19, Katie Arens led a 6-1 rally with two service aces and Yates added two kills for the victory.

The thrilling comeback win carried over into the second set. The Pacers jumped out to a 7-0 lead and cruised 25-14.

The Pacers led most of the tightly-contested third set. The score was 20-19 in favor of William Peace before the visitors went on a 5-2 run to clinch the match.

Juanes finished with nine kills and six digs in the easy win against Mary Baldwin. Chinigo and Ashley Wyrick had six and five kills, respectively, and Brylski collected 25 assists, five aces and five assists.

Camplin had 13 digs and three aces and Tameka Adams finished with two blocks.

The Pacers host a much-anticipated matchup against crosstown rival Meredith, the defending conference champion, at the Hermann Athletic Center on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m.
