Volleyball Keeps Win Streaks Alive In USA South Opener

RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace maintained two streaks in Wednesday's 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-23) volleyball win over Pfeiffer at the Hermann Athletic Center.

The victory was the Pacers' fourth straight this season. It was also the 17th consecutive win over Pfeiffer since 2017.

More importantly, William Peace is 1-0 in the USA South after winning its conference opener.

"We opened up conference play strong and can't wait to keep building!," Pacers' Head Coach Hannah Marshall said.

Jordan Juanes posted team highs of 10 kills, 16 digs and four aces to spark the Pacers. She added one block for good measure.

Georgia Grace Anderson contributed eight kills and a team-high three blocks while Chassie Jacops and Sarah Yates both chipped in seven kills. Maegan Brylski amassed 34 assists and Vivian Camplin totaled 11 digs.

Katie Arens finished with nine digs and three aces and Savannah Hairr added eight digs and two aces.

The Pacers (8-4 overall, 1-0 USA South) started fast as they led 15-7 in the first set. The margin stretched to 24-13 on their way to a 25-15 win.

The second set was more of the same. The Pacers raced to a 12-4 lead in cruising to a 25-17 victory.

Pfeiffer opened a 5-1 lead in the third set, but the Pacers surged ahead 21-14. The Falcons rallied to tie the score 23-23, but Anderson and Juanes both recorded kills off Brylski's assists to finish off Pfeiffer (3-5 overall, 0-1 USA South).

Marshall says Pfeiffer was a tough opponent despite the score.

"Pfeiffer is always a good opponent for us, and throughout the competitive match we were able to identify a few weaknesses that we will work on over the next few practices to prepare for our two conference games this weekend," Marshall said.

William Peace will face both USA South foes Greensboro and Mary Baldwin in Greensboro, N.C., on Saturday, Sept. 21. The Greensboro match will start at 12 p.m. followed by the Mary Baldwin match at 2 p.m.
