Lemus Sets WPU Career Goal-Scoring Record In Men's Soccer

DANVILLE, Va. – Standout forward Jorge Lemus of William Peace became the school career leader in goals on Friday.

Lemus scored the 38th goal of his collegiate career in the first half for a 1-0 Pacers' lead. Averett responded with two second-half goals for a 2-1 season-opening win over the Pacers at Frank R. Campbell Stadium.

The contest was fairly even as both teams attempted 15 shots. Averett recorded more fouls (9-7) and saves (5-3) while the Pacers had more corner kicks (5-1).

The Pacers attempted six shots in the final 15 minutes after trailing 2-1. Two shots were saved and several others were just off the mark.

Rafa Quevodo-Antunez recorded three saves for William Peace, who visit Guilford on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
