PEMBROKE, N.C. – Sharif Blount of William Peace finished second in the men's 800 meters and two Pacers achieved personal bests in their respective men's events at the UNCP Braves Classic track & field meet on Saturday.

Blount ran a time of 2:00.71, nearly beating Larry Scott of Division II Newberry in a two-man race to the finish line. Scott won the men's 800 run in 2:00.63.

Blount finished ahead of 11 runners, including five from Division II schools. The third-place runner finished four seconds behind Blount.

"It was a tight race in the men's 800 with Sharif taking second by an extremely narrow margin," Pacers Head Coach Campbell Scollo said.

Sean Stewart posted personal best marks in the discus (30.72 meters) by two meters and the shot put (10.17 meters). Daniel Steele threw a personal-best mark in the men's javelin (25.94).

The Pacers are back in action at the Trojan Relays in Mount Olive, N.C., on Friday, April 12. This will be the last regular-season meet before the USA South Championships, which will be held April 26-27 in Concord, N.C.
