Pacers Celebrate Senior Day With Women's Lacrosse Win Over Huntingdon

CARY, N.C. – The William Peace women's lacrosse team was all smiles on Saturday.

The Pacers defeated Huntingdon 13-7 in a USA South matchup and celebrated Senior Day after the game. WPU seniors Samantha Autry, Morgan May, Alana Williams, Keslee Hylton and Destinee Ward were honored during the ceremony.

"There's no better way to celebrate our five seniors than a conference win," WPU Head Coach Hannah Rosen said.

Hylton led a balanced offense with four goals in the win. The trio of Autry, Mary Langer and Joelle Cerneka each added three goals and Elise Langer had an assist.

The Pacers started the season with little depth and experience but are jelling as the season winds down. They are riding a two-game win streak entering their final regular season game at Greensboro next Saturday, April 27. The contest will likely determine a league tournament berth.

Hylton scored three goals to spark the Pacers to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter. The Hawks tied the score 4-4 in the second quarter but the Pacers pulled away in the fourth quarter, scoring five goals for the decisive win.

Aryal Brandon collected eight saves and Mary Langer scooped up five draw controls, four ground balls and caused two turnovers.

The Pacers outshot the Hawks 27-20 and won 14 draw controls to nine for Huntingdon.

Afterward, the five seniors were recognized in front of family, friends, fans, teammates and coaches. The victory made Senior Day that much sweeter.

"This team has come a long way and has worked hard for moments like today," Rosen said.
