Pacers Defeat N.C. Wesleyan On The Road In Women's Lacrosse

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – William Peace has had a tough women's lacrosse season but the Pacers have never quit despite the outcome.

On Wednesday, their persistence paid off with a satisfying 9-2 road win over N.C. Wesleyan in a USA South game.

"We showed what overcoming adversity can look like," first-year Pacers Head Coach Hannah Rosen said. "We played a full four quarters and played the Pacer Way from the start."

Their work ethic may lead the Pacers to a spot in the USA South Conference Tournament, which begins April 30 at the site of the higher seeds. The Pacers are currently battling for the tourney's eighth and final seed with two regular season games remaining.

A tournament berth would be a nice reward for the Pacers, who played their best game of the season. They took charge from the outset, taking a 3-0 lead and never trailing in the contest. Samantha Autry scored two of her game-high five goals in the first quarter as the Pacers set the tone.

Keslee Hylton added the other goal in the first quarter. She finished with two goals and one assist and Mary Langer contributed two goals in addition to four ground balls and two draw controls. Aryal Brandon totaled six saves on eight goal attempts for the goalkeeper win.

The Pacers led 4-1 at halftime and increased their margin to 9-1 at the end of the quarter. They outshot N.C. Wesleyan 22-10 and were 3 of 6 on free-position shots.

The Pacers host USA South opponent Huntingdon in their final home game of the season at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday (April 20) at 11:30 a.m. Five players – Alana Williams, Morgan May, Destinee Ward, Autry and Hylton - will be recognized on Senior Day.
