Pacers Hold Brevard Scoreless In Softball Doubleheader Sweep

RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace held Brevard scoreless in both games of a USA South doubleheader sweep at the WPU Softball Complex on Saturday, April 13. The Pacers dispatched Brevard in both games by identical 8-0 scores in five innings.

Reagan Stewart and Rachel Mori combined on a five-hit shutout in the first game. Stewart scattered five hits with two strikeouts and one walk in three innings for the pitching win. Mori had two strikeouts and two walks in two innings of work.

Erin Miles allowed four hits with three strikeouts and zero walks in four innings to improve to 4-1 on the mound. Samantha Cusic gave up one hit and recorded one strikeout in the final inning.

The Pacers combined for 20 hits in both wins including 12 hits in the second game. They tallied eight extra-base hits including five in the second victory.

Megan McAnany and Lydia Hunt both led the Pacers with two RBIs in the first game. McAnany's two-run double capped a five-run first inning and Hunt's two-RBI single pushed the lead to 7-0 in the third inning.

The trio of Adanya Day, Logan Ayers and Preston Hawkins each drove in a run. Hawkins scored twice to lead the Pacers.

Day knocked in three runs and Kierston Cox had two RBIs in the second game. Both players contributed to a four-run third inning for a 7-0 lead.

Day started the scoring with an RBI single and Cox added a one-run single. Kimberly Bordeaux had an RBI groundout and McAnany hit an RBI single. Day added an RBI single in the fourth inning for the final score.

Ayers and Stewart both scored twice for the Pacers. Ayers added a triple and Stewart doubled twice while Angelina Jones and McAnany both doubled.

The Pacers are back on the field against USA South opponent N.C. Wesleyan in a doubleheader at the WPU Softball Complex on Tuesday, April 16. The first game begins at 2 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 4 p.m.
