Pacers Play Inspired Game In Close Loss To Randolph

LYNCHBURG, Va. – William Peace played an inspired game in a 7-5 loss to Randolph in non-conference women's lacrosse on Wednesday.

The Pacers built an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter but Randolph came back to tie the game 4-4 at halftime. The visitors fell behind 7-4 in the third quarter but Samantha Autry scored a goal to slice the deficit to 7-5 in the fourth quarter. The Pacers continued to attack in the final minutes but couldn't connect down the stretch.

"Our game against Randolph was a great effort on both sides of the ball," Pacers Head Coach Hannah Rosen said. "Our defense continues to prove its persistence and each game we continue to get better. As we continue to build, we look forward to capitalizing and learning from each game."

Autry and Mary Langer scored two goals apiece for the Pacers, who outshot Randolph 27-19. The Pacers scooped up more ground balls (20-16), had more clears (18-14) and committed less turnovers (20-28).

Keslee Hylton added one goal and one assist for the Pacers, who will host Southern Virginia in a USA South Conference game at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., on Saturday, March 23. The game begins at 2 p.m.
