Bell Scores Five Goals In Close Loss To Randolph In Men's Lacrosse

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Jamar Bell scored five goals as William Peace led most of the way before falling 15-14 to Randolph in men's lacrosse action on Saturday.

Dante Baranello and Caleb Trahan added three goals each for the Pacers. William English collected five assists and Bell added two assists.

Trahan and Brandon Goad each scored a goal in the opening minutes to set the tone for the Pacers, who held an early 2-1 lead. Randolph managed to tie the score but the trio of Trahan, Baranello and Aidan McNeely each scored for a 5-2 lead in the second quarter.

Randolph came back to knot the score at 5-5 at halftime. The Pacers (0-2 overall) regained control in the third quarter, taking a 9-5 lead on four straight goals. Bell scored twice during the two-minute scoring splurge. Baranello and Conner Wells each contributed a goal.

Randolph (1-0 overall) pulled within 9-8 in the third quarter. The Pacers went on another scoring run, stretching their lead to 12-8 on goals by Trahan, Baranello and Bell.

Bell added two goals in the fourth quarter including a score with 3:51 remaining to put the Pacers ahead 14-13. Randolph scored the tying goal with 1:33 left and the winning goal 16 seconds later.

Dylan Sullivan had 17 saves for the Pacers, who return home to host Averett on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at WakeMed Soccer Park. The game begins at 5:30 p.m.
