Pacers Throttle Averett 10-3 In Men's Lacrosse

CARY, N.C. – William Peace played Averett in torrential rain at times, but the weather was perfect for the Pacers as they trounced the Cougars 10-3 in men's lacrosse at WakeMed Soccer Park on Wednesday.

"I'm proud of this team," WPU Head Coach Mark Crisco said. "Our men overcame adversity and the non-controllable elements to put together a complete game. This was earned by everyone on the roster. I'm truly enjoying my time with these men, and this victory was well deserved."

Jamar Bell collected four goals and Caleb Trahan added three goals for the Pacers, who captured their first victory in three matches. The trio of William English, Zack McConnell and Conner Wells each added a goal.

The Pacers scored four goals in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Trahan opened the scoring in the quarter on an assist from Aiden McNeely. Bell added two straight goals, one on an assist from Brandon Goad, for a 9-3 lead. Trahan scored the final goal to finish off the Cougars.

Bell scored the Pacers' first goal of the contest to tie the game at 1-1. His score was the first of four straight by the Pacers. Trahan scored off Bell's assist and Trahan returned the favor by assisting on Bell's goal. English added a goal as the Pacers entered halftime leading 4-2.

In the third period, McConnell scored on English's assist and Conner Wells added a goal for a 6-2 lead. Averett closed within three at the end of third, but the Pacers took over the fourth to clinch the victory.

The Pacers outshot the Cougars 34-26 and forced 21 Averett turnovers. Goalkeeper Dylan Sullivan tallied 11 saves to earn the win.

William Peace will host its second consecutive game on Sunday, March 3. The Pacers will take on Penn at WakeMed Soccer Park starting at 2 p.m.
