English Scores Three Goals In Season-Opening Lacrosse Loss

CARY, N.C. – William English scored three goals for William Peace in an 18-9 season-opening men's lacrosse defeat to Oglethorpe at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday.

English added one assist for the Pacers. Jamar Bell contributed one goal and two assists and Aidan McNeely and Zack McConnell each totaled one goal and one assist. Pacers' goalie Dylan Sullivan recorded 19 saves.

English scored twice in a ten-second span to give the Pacers a 3-1 lead in the first quarter. A late run gave Oglethorpe a 4-3 lead entering the second quarter, but Bell scored a goal to tie the score.

Zachary Fields scored on Bell's assist to tie the game again at 5-5 in the second quarter. Oglethorpe took a 7-5 lead into halftime and outscored the Pacers 11-4 in the last two quarters.

The Pacers play again Saturday, Feb. 24, against Randolph in Lynchburg, Va. The contest begins at 1 p.m.
