Women's Basketball Falls In Season Opener

RALEIGH, N.C. – Jessica Worthey scored 16 points and Alayna Randolph added 12 points for William Peace, which dropped its women's basketball season opener to Centre 74-54 at the Hermann Athletic Center on Saturday.

The Pacers showed promise despite the loss to Centre, picked to finish second in its conference. After falling behind 43-20 at halftime, the Pacers outscored the visitors 34-31 in the second half. 

Zikira Henderson chipped in nine points and Brene'a Daye scored eight points for the Pacers, who shot 40 percent from the floor. Worthey and Randolph both snatched six rebounds.

Centre improved to 2-0 overall. The Colonials scored 56 of their 74 points in the paint. 

The Pacers travel to Virginia to tangle with Ferrum on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Tipoff is 7 p.m. They are back at home on Saturday, Nov. 16, against Lynchburg at 2 p.m.
