RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace fell to North Carolina Wesleyan in a tough five-set (19-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 7-15) volleyball loss at the Hermann Athletic Center on Tuesday.

The Pacers (6-8 USA South, 13-14 overall) were led by Jordan Juanes with 11 kills and 26 digs. Sarah Yates tallied 12 kills and Chassie Jacops collected 10 kills while Maegan Brylski totaled 35 assists and nine digs.

North Carolina Wesleyan (3-13 USA South, 4-20 overall) entered the match with three victories but claimed the first set 25-19 to set the tone. The score was 21-19 before the Battling Bishops scored the last four points for the first-set win.

William Peace returned the favor in the second set, scoring four consecutive points for a 25-20 victory. In the third set, it was the Battling Bishops turn to score four in a row as they turned a 21-21 tie into a 25-21 win. The Pacers bounced back in the fourth set, opening a 23-19 lead on their way to a 25-21 win to tie the match 2-2.

The Pacers fell behind quickly in the fifth set and never gained the lead. Trailing 5-1, the Pacers pulled within 9-6 but a 5-0 spurt by North Carolina Wesleyan put the match out of reach in the 15-7 loss.
