Volleyball Falls On Dig Pink Night

RALEIGH, N.C. – William Peace played Methodist close for most of the match before falling 3-0 (23-25, 26-28, 16-25) in USA South volleyball Wednesday at the Hermann Athletic Center. The match was designated as Dig Pink Night to promote breast cancer awareness.

Jordan Juanes totaled 12 kills and 13 digs for the Pacers. Sarah Yates added six kills and four players each collected five kills – Georgia Grace Anderson, Jordyn Chinigo, Maegan Brylski and Chassie Jacops.

Brylski also tallied 27 assists, two service aces and four digs. Vivian Camplin tied Juanes with 13 digs while Jacqueline Janecek and Savannah Hairr contributed 12 digs and 11 digs, respectively. Anderson had four block assists and Yates finished with three block assists.

The Pacers had a higher attack percentage (.202) than Methodist (.201). The combination of nine Methodist aces and eight William Peace service errors swung the match in favor of the Monarchs.

The first two sets followed the same pattern. William Peace fell behind only to rally back.

In the first set, the Pacers (6-6 USA South, 13-12 overall) scored six consecutive points to turn a 22-17 deficit into a 23-22 lead. The Monarchs (9-3 USA South, 18-4 overall) scored the last three points to claim the set.

The Pacers trailed 24-18 in the second set but scored six straight points to tie the score 24-24. The score was knotted at 26-26 before the Monarchs scored the last two points for the win.

In the third set, the Pacers faced another deficit, this time falling behind 16-9. William Peace got within 18-14 but Methodist pulled away to clinch the match.

William Peace plays again Friday, Oct. 25, at Southern Virginia in Buena Vista, Va. The match starts at 7 p.m.
