RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball fell 3-1 on the road to Salisbury University in their season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seagulls would take a big 13-2 lead in set one. A kill by
Chassie Jacops would cut the score to 14-4, but the Seagulls would shut down the Pacers to win the set 25-7.
In set two, the Pacers would take an early 6-4 lead with a kill from
Madeline Simpson.
Simpson,
Kelsey Bierbauer, and
Hannah Collier would help put the Pacers up 16-12, but the Seagulls would rally to take a 20-18 lead before going on to win the set 25-23.
In the third set, a big run from the Pacers with kills from
Maegan Brylski and
Chassie Jacops would give them a 10-4 lead. The set would go back-and-forth to be tied 15-15 before Salisbury would take a 21-17 lead. A strong run from the Pacers with kills from Jacops,
Landis Limon,
Hannah Collier, and
Audrey Spindle would put the Pacers up 24-21, with Limon putting the set away for the Pacers 25-22.
The final set would be be a back-and-forth contest before Salisbury would take a brief 12-9 lead. Kills from
Kelsey Bierbauer would give WPU a 16-14 lead before it would be tied 19-19. The Seagulls would go on a run to lead 24-20 and would snag the final point for a 25-22 win.

- Jackie Mitchell led the Seagulls with 15 kills.
- Brooke Young tallied 30 assists.
