NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- William Peace University volleyball fell 3-0 in a tough matchup to Christopher Newport University, a team which won the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championship last year and made an NCAA Tournament appearance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (25-18)
The Pacers and the Captains would battle back-and-forth early, with the score being tied 5-5. The Captains would take a 13-9 lead before a run from the Pacers with a kill from Jordan Juanes and an ace from Hannah Ward would tie it 13-13. The Pacers would continue to battle, but the Captains would roll with a 5-point run to close the set 25-18.
Set Two (25-22)
In set two, the Captains would take an early 9-6 lead. A kill from Jordan Juanes would tie it 14-14, while kills from Georgia Grace Anderson and Shelby Cooper would bring the score to 23-21 as the Pacers trailed but continued to battle. However, the Captains would hold off the Pacers to win the set 25-22 and take a 2-0 lead.
Set Three (25-16)
The Captains would take a big 8-3 lead in the final set. A quick run with a kill from Georgia Grace Anderson would bring the Pacers within one as they trailed 9-8, but the Captains would surge ahead to lead 17-12. Despite a good effort from the Pacers, a final run would end the set 25-16 and 3-0 in favor of the Captains.
