RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball improved to a 9-0 record, tying the 2019 program record for best start to the season, as they defeated Maryville College 3-0 and University of Lynchburg 3-1. In nine games, the Pacers have now only lost a total of three sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE - Maryville
Set One (25-9)
The Pacers would dominate the first set with kills from Hannah Collier and an ace from Mackenzie Russell putting them up 5-1. A six point run with kills from Landis Limon and Hannah Collier and an ace from Hannah Ward would give the team a 16-5 lead. A final 4-point run with kills from Georgia Grace Anderson and Kelsey Bierbauer would end the set 25-9.
Set Two (25-18)
In set two, the Pacers would again take a big 8-2 lead with kills from Kelsey Bierbauer and an ace from Logan Moore. A few errors and a kill from Hannah Collier would put the team up 14-7, while kills from Landis Limon, Shelby Cooper, and Bierbauer would put the score at 19-11. A kill from Georgia Grace Anderson and a service ace from Hannah Ward would put the score at 24-16, with a final kill from Vivian Camplin ending the set 25-18.
Set Three (25-15)
The Pacers would take a big 11-6 lead with kills from Georgia Grace Anderson and Hannah Collier. A service ace from Logan Moore would bring the score to 15-8. An ace from Hannah Ward and another kill from Collier would put the Pacers up 22-13, while a big block from Shelby Cooper and Landis Limon would end the set 25-15 and the match 3-0.
GAME TWO - Lynchburg
Set One (27-25)
The first set would be an intense back-and-forth battle, with a kill from Landis Limon tying it 10-10. A kill from Georgia Grace Anderson would put the Pacers up 16-15, but the Hornets would go on a run to lead 23-19. A run from the Pacers with kills from Hannah Collier and Shelby Cooper would tie it 23-23. Blocks from Mackenzie Russell and Georgia Grace Anderson and a final kill from Vivian Camplin would end the set 27-25 for the Pacers.
Set Two (25-14)
The Pacers would take an early 10-6 lead with kills from Hannah Collier and two aces from Hannah Ward. A 4-point run with kills from Collier and Landis Limon would put them ahead 15-10, while a big 6-point run would give them a 21-11 advantage. Georgia Grace Anderson would put up the final kill for a 25-14 set win.
Set Three (20-25)
The third set would be tied 6-6 early before a strong run from the Hornets would put them ahead 12-6. The Pacers would battle but would trail 18-11 as the Hornets' Kailey Keough put up several good kills. A late run from the Pacers would bring them within four as they trailed 24-20, but the Hornets would come away with a 25-20 win as they trailed 2-1 in the match.
Set Four (25-20)
A few consecutive kills from Georgia Grace Anderson would give the Pacers an 8-6 lead early in the final set, but the Hornets would tie the set at 13-13. An ace from Mackenzie Russell would bring the score to 18-15, while two kills from Cooper would put the Pacers up 21-16. Georgia Grace Anderson would pick up the final kill, ending the set 25-20 and the game 3-1 for the Pacers.
