Baseball Makes Program History With First Postseason Win As They Take Down Monarchs

LAGRANGE, GA – William Peace University baseball picked up their first postseason win in the history of their program with a 14-10 win over Methodist. The Pacers will continue in the USA South Conference Tournament with a game tomorrow, May 7th, against Covenant at 1PM.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Cameron Butler would hit a sac fly to score Jake Dacunto in the bottom of the 2nd to put the Pacers up 1-0. The Monarchs would tie it 1-1 at the top of the third, but a homerun from Brett Kemp would bring in 3 runs for a 4-1 lead. In the bottom of the 5th, Hunter Ward's double would score Nick Tyler for a 5-1 score, while a sac fly from Brett Kemp would score Ward for a score of 6-1. The Monarchs would cut the lead to 6-4 at the top of the sixth, but big hits from Kevin Gonzalez, Hunter Ward, and Brett Kemp would increase the Pacer lead to 10-4.

The Monarchs would again cut the Pacer lead at the top of the 7th to 10-6, but a single from Logan Barbour would put the Pacers ahead 11-6. A double from Hunter Ward and a double from Brett Kemp would give the Pacers a 14-6 advantage. The Monarchs would rally at the top of the 8th and 9th, but the Pacers would hold them off to win 14-10 and advance to the next tournament game.
