Pacers Split Doubleheader With Falcons

RALEIGH, NC – William Peace University baseball split a doubleheader matchup with Pfeiffer. The Pacers fell in game one 5-3 but came back to win game two 16-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
Hunter Ward would get the Pacers on the board in the bottom of the 1st with a homerun to center field. Pfeiffer would tie it up 1-1 before taking a 2-1 lead at the top of the first on a few doubles. In the bottom of the 5th, a walk for Patrick Rogan would bring in a run and tie it 2-2. A sacrifice fly at the top of the 8th would put the Falcons up 3-2, while a single at the top of the 9th would give them a 5-2 lead. Patrick Rogan would bring home Nick Tubolino in the bottom of the 9th, but the Pacers would fall 5-3.

Game One
Pfeiffer would take an early 2-0 lead at the top of the second before the Pacers would rally in the bottom of the second to take an 8-2 lead with hits from Cameron Butler, Sean Roseborough, Nick Tyler, Hunter Ward, Brett Kemp, and  Jake Dacunto. The Falcons would rally back in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings, coming with one run as they trailed 8-7. Nick Tyler would walk in the bottom of the 5th to bring in Sean Roseborough for a score of 9-7, while a sacrifice fly from Hunter Ward would score Kevin Gonzalez for a 10-7 score. The Falcons would add two at the top of the 7th as they trailed 10-9, but a few hits from Nick Tyler, Hunter Ward, and Brett Kemp would put the Pacers up 14-9. A single from Brett Kemp would help secure the 16-9 win for the Pacers in the bottom of the 8th.

  • J. Owen notched 10 strikeouts in game one.
