Softball Splits Doubleheader With Ithaca

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University softball split a doubleheader with Ithaca College. The Pacers would win game one 2-1 before falling 11-1 in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One

The Bombers would get on the board early at the top of the 1st on a fielding error to put them ahead 1-0. Katherine Murphy would be strong in the circle, notching several strikeouts as the Pacers kept the held off the Bombers for the rest of the game.  

In the bottom of the 4th, a single from Nadia Pittman would bring home Preston Hawkins to tie it 1-1. Lauren Conway would single to bring home Nadia Pittman and put the Pacers up 2-1. Murphy would keep the Bombers at bay to secure a 2-1 Pacer victory.

Game Two
In the bottom of the first, Megan McAnany would drive home Dara Orr to put the Pacers up 1-0. The Bombers would tie it 1-1 at the top of the 2nd before taking a 2-1 lead on an error. At the top of the 3rd, Julia Loffredo would single to put the Bombers up 3-1.

Ithaca would have a big 4th inning, adding 5 runs to lead 8-1. They would add another run at the top of the 7th with a double to bring the score to 9-1, before a double to right center would give them an 11-1 advantage and secure the 11-1 win.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Anna Cornell tallied 13 strikeouts in game two.
  • Hudson Hassler went 3 for 5 in game two with 2 RBIs.
NEXT GAME
The Pacers will open USA South Conference play on March 18th at 1PM against Averett University.
