Volleyball Battles For Semifinal Win Over Greensboro; Set To Head To SVU For Championship

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball battled for a 3-2 win over Greensboro College in the USA South Conference Tournament Semifinal. The Pacers will now head to Southern Virginia University on November 5th for the Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (25-22)

The Pride would get out to a strong start to lead 8-5 in set one. A strong run with kills from Georgia Grace Anderson and blocks from Hannah Collier and Anderson would tie it 18-18. Final blocks from Kelsey Bierbauer and Anderson would end the set 25-22 for the Pacers.

Set Two (25-22)
A few kills from Hannah Collier and Kelsey Bierbauer would put the Pacers up 9-6 in set two, but the Pride would go on a strong run to lead 14-12. A late push from the Pride would put them up 22-18, but a kill and block from Landis Limon would put the score at 23-22 as the Pacers trailed by 1. The Pride would grab the last points to take the set 25-22 and tie the match 1-1.

Set Three (25-21)
In the third set, the Pride would take a strong 8-3 lead early. A big run would put them up 16-9, though a few kills from Shelby Cooper and Kelsey Bierbauer would bring the score to 16-14. However, the Pride would not let up and would clinch the third set 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead.

Set Four (25-21)
In the fourth set, the Pride would get out to a big 10-6 lead. A strong run would put them up 19-12 over the Pacers before an impressive 7-point run with blocks from Georgia Grace Anderson and kills from Hannah Collier would put the Pacers back up 21-20. A block from Landis Limon and a kill from Collier would end the set 25-22 and tie the game 2-2.

Set Five (15-7)
The Pacers would dominate the final set, with kills from Shelby Cooper and Kelsey Bierbauer and an ace from Logan Moore putting them up 8-3. Kills from Hannah Collier and Landis Limon and a final ace from Mackenzie Russell would end the set 15-7 and secure the 3-2 win for the Pacers.

  • Payton Shiflet led the team with 20 kills.
  • Jaylyn Templeton notched 46 assists.
