Volleyball Concludes Record-Breaking Season In Championship

BUENA VISTA, NC -- William Peace University volleyball battled in a tough 3-0 loss to Southern Virginia in the USA South Conference Championship. The Pacers conclude a very successful season which saw the program post a new single-season win record with 27 wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (18-25)
The Pacers would start strong in the first set, taking a 4-2 lead on a kill from Kelsey Bierbauer before the Knights would go on a big run to lead 7-4. The Pacers would battle to trail by just 4 as kills from Hannah Collier and Shelby Cooper would bring the score to 15-11. A late push with a kill from Collier and a block from Landis Limon would bring the score to 23-18, but SVU would pick up the final kills for a 25-18 win.

Set Two (18-25)
A strong start from the Knights would give them an 8-3 lead early in the second set. A big block from Bierbauer and Georgia Grace Anderson would put the Pacers within 4 as they trailed 16-12. A few late kills from Limon would put the score at 24-18, but the Knights would grab the last point of the set for another 25-18 win to take a 2-0 lead.

Set Three (20-25)
Kills from Bierbauer would put the Pacers up 5-3 early in set three. Collier and Bierbauer would help the Pacers battle back within 1 as a few kills would put the score at 13-12. A kill from Collier and a block from Mackenzie Russell and Limon would bring the score to 23-19, but SVU would hold off the Pacers to win the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Courtney Pinkston led the Knights with 13 kills, while Sage Matheny added 40 assists
