Volleyball Goes 2-0 On The Day With Wins Over Mary Baldwin And Greensboro

STAUNTON, VA -- William Peace University volleyball continued their streak in conference play, defeating Mary Baldwin 3-1 and Greensboro 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One - MBU

Set One (25-27)
The first set would be a back-and-forth contest, with a kill from Georgia Grace Anderson putting the Pacers up 8-6. A 5-point run with kills from Anderson, Hannah Collier, and Landis Limon, as well as two aces from Hannah Ward, would put the Pacers up 14-10. The Fighting Squirrels would go on a run to lead 17-16. A kill from Kelsey Bierbauer would tie it 23-23, but a final run from Mary Baldwin would give them a 27-25 win.

Set Two (25-17)
The Pacers would take a 7-2 lead early in the set on kills from Shelby Cooper and Kelsey Bierbauer. Kills from Cooper and Hannah Collier would put them up 16-8. A small run from Mary Baldwin would bring them closer as they trailed 19-14, but a final kill from Hannah Collier would end the set 25-17 and tie the game 1-1.

Set Three (25-15)
In the third set, a few early runs would put the Pacers up 10-4. Kills from Georgia Grace Anderson and Hannah Collier would increase the lead to 15-6, while a kill from Kelsey Bierbauer would bring the score to 22-13. A 3-point run with blocks from Hannah Collier and Georgia Grace Anderson and a kill from Kelsey Bierbauer would end the set 25-15 in favor of the Pacers.

Set Four (25-12)
In the final set, an ace from Kelsey Bierbauer and a kill from Hannah Collier would put the Pacers up 9-6. An ace from Collier, a block from Landis Limon, and a kill from Shelby Cooper would give them a 15-8 lead, while a 5-point run with aces from Vivian Camplin and kills from Kelsey Bierbauer and Georgia Grace Anderson would put the Pacers up 23-11. Final kills from Anderson and Collier would end the set 25-12 and the game 3-1.

Game One - GB
Set One (25-22)
The Pride would take an early 7-4 lead in set one before leading 13-7 as the Pacers battled back. A huge 6-point run with kills from Landis Limon and Kelsey Bierbauer would tie it 16-16. The Pacers would tie it again 22-22 before going on a final run with aces from Hannah Ward and a kill from Limon to win 25-22.

Set Two (25-6)
The Pacers would dominate the second set, leading early 5-2. A 9-point run with kills from Kelsey Bierbauer, Hannah Ward, Mackenzie Russell, and Georgia Grace Anderson would put them ahead 14-3. A 6-point run with kills from Hannah Collier, Nancy Gamewell, and Landis Limon would bring the score to 24-5, with a final kill from Collier ending the set 25-6.

Set Three (25-15)
In the final set, the Pacers would take another big 15-4 lead with aces from Vivian Camplin and kills from Georgia Grace Anderson and Kelsey Bierbauer. The Pride would go on a run to battle back as they trailed 20-15, but a final kill from Bierbauer would end the set 25-15 and the game 3-0.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Rachel Christian tallied 13 kills for Mary Baldwin in game one.
  • Payton Shiflet notched 10 kills in game two for the Pride.
