Volleyball Falls In 5 To Salem

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball fell in a tough battle to the Salem Spirits 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (21-25)
The Pacers would take an 8-5 lead on a few kills from Georgia Grace Anderson, Shelby Cooper, and Kelsey Bierbauer. A kill from Hannah Collier would tie it 11-11, but the Spirits would take a 14-11 lead. The Pacers would battle back as they trailed 23-20, but the Spirits would end the set 25-21.

Set Two (25-16)
The Pacers would tie the second set 5-5 early. A 5-point run with kills from Kelsey Bierbauer and Georgia Grace Anderson would put them up 15-13, while a 6-point run with kills from Anderson and Bierbauer would put the team up 21-14. A final service ace from Hannah Ward would end the set 25-16.

Set Three (25-13)
The Pacers would take a big 7-1 lead early with kills from Shelby Cooper and Kelsey Bierbauer. A kill from Hannah Collier would put them up 15-9, while a 6-point run would put them up 21-11. A final kill from Georgia Grace Anderson would end the set 25-13 and put the Pacers up 2-1.

Set Four (24-26)
The fourth set would be a back-and-forth battle as it would be tied 7-7 early. A huge 8-point from from the Spirits would give them a 16-12 lead. They would then lead 20-13 before the Pacers would battle back to tie it 23-23 with kills from Hannah Collier and Mackenzie Russell, however the Spirits would force a 5th set with a 26-24 win.

Set Three (13-15)
In the final set, a 5-point run with kills from Jordan Juanes and Georgia Grace Anderson would put the Pacers up 8-3. A strong run from the Spirits would tie it 9-9. A kill from Shelby Cooper would put the Pacers up 13-12, but Salem would notch the last three points to win 15-13 and the game 3-2.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Valeria Rosa Lopez led the team with 12 kills.
