HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (19-25)
The first set would be a back-and-forth contest, with a kill from
Shelby Cooper putting the Pacers up 6-5. A kill from
Hannah Collier would put the Pacers up 11-10, but a 4-point run from the Marlins would give them a 14-11 advantage. An ace from
Vivian Camplin and a kill from
Kelsey Bierbauer would tie it 18-18, but the Marlins would go on a run to lead 23-18. They would finish the set 25-19 to take a 1-0 lead.
Set Two (19-25)
The Pacers would take a 5-0 lead on a few attack errors and a kill from
Hannah Collier, as well as a few blocks from
Landis Limon and
Shelby Cooper. The Marlins would quickly fight back to go on a run and lead 8-6. A kill from
Shelby Cooper would tie it 9-9. but another run from the Marlins would put them up 19-13. The Pacers would fight back late but a few final kills from the Marlins would end the set 25-19.
Set Three (19-25)
In the final set,
Kelsey Bierbauer would tie it 7-7 early. An ace from
Mackenzie Russell would tie it again 11-11, but a run from the Marlins would bring the score to 18-13. A 5-point run would give VWU a 24-17 lead, and they would close the set again 25-19 to win 3-0.
