CARY, NC -- William Peace University men's soccer defeated Emory & Henry College 7-0.
Ivan Ponce tallied a hat trick and his 30th career goal as the Pacers now improve to 5-0 this season ahead of beginning conference play this Saturday against Greensboro College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wasps would score an own goal at 11:37 to put WPU up 1-0 after some good early possession from the Pacers. Danny Alvarez would score a penalty kick goal off a foul called on Emory & Henry's Daniel Martinez-Flores to extend the Pacer lead 2-0 at 12:03. The Pacers would continue to attack as
Ivan Ponce would put shots up and finally connected at 17:54 to increase the Pacer lead 3-0. The Pacers would make a handful of substitutions allowing
Donnie Leahy to score off an assist by
Reid Taylor at 40:18 to send the Pacers into halftime up 4-0.
Ivan Ponce would score his second of the game at 53:10 giving the Pacers a nice cushion of a 5-0 lead, which would also mark Ponce's 30th career goal. Ponce would continue to challenge the Wasps, completing his hat trick at 50:00 off an assist by
Jorge Lemus to stretch the Pacers lead to 6-0.
Alex Hernandez would score the exclamation point goal at 62:19 to secure the 7-0 shutout for the Pacers.
