Ponce Scores Twice As Pacers Shutout Royals

NORFOLK, VA -- William Peace University men's soccer team defeated Regent University 4-0. Ivan Ponce would tally twice for the Pacers, with Reid Taylor and Jorge Aguilar each adding a goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pacers would gain control of the game early, dominating possession. A build-up on the right side by Josiah Caronna who would find Jorge Lemus. Lemus would play a first-time ball from the right side into Jorge Aguilar who was front post, who would sneak it in at the near post to give the Pacers a 1-0 lead. At 19:19, a service in by Archie Filliter would find Ivan Ponce, who would head it in to increase the Pacer lead to 2-0. The Pacers would continue to put on the pressure. At 37:13, Alex Hernandez would find Sammy Suazo, who would take a back heel touch to find Reid Taylor inside the 18. Taylor would turn and shoot and tuck it into the left corner to give the Pacers a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Pacers would continue to dominate possession, shutting down the Royals and preventing any scoring opportunities. At 72:28, Ivan Ponce would get his second of the game after a slotted ball from TJ Hurd would find him, giving the Pacers a 4-0 lead. The Pacers continued to battle, securing a 4-0 win over the Royals.
