Lynchburg, VA -- William Peace University baseball fell in a tough match-up against University of Lynchburg 17-2. The Hornets grabbed an early 8-0 lead through the first two innings. The Pacers were unable to close the gap, with Lynchburg holding them to just two runs while continuing to add to their lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Throughout the first two innings, the Hornets would capitalize on a few Pacer errors as well as a 3-RBI double to right field to take an 8-0 lead. Pitcher Wesley Arrington would keep WPU from scoring until the top of the fifth, when the Pacers would take advantage of a few infield errors to score two runs, trailing 8-2. Lynchburg would come back in the bottom of that inning to add three more runs, before adding six more in the bottom of the seventh to lead 17-2. That would prove to be the final score as the Hornets held the Pacers from closing the gap.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS

• Gavin Taylor was 2 for 3 at the plate.
• Nathan Holt and Patrick Rogan each scored a run for the Pacers.

FOR THE FOES

• Garrett Jackson went 4 for 5 at bat, scoring 3 runs and adding 1 RBI.
• Parker Shaffer added 4 RBIs.
