Pacers Continue Winning Streak With Sweep Of Falcons

Misenheimer, NC -- William Peace University Volleyball continued their winning streak as they swept Pfeiffer University 2-0. The Pacers won game one, a USA South Conference matchup, 3-0, before taking a non-conference win in game two 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
Set One (25-15)

The Falcons would take the first two points of the set before the Pacers would notch 6 in a row to lead 6-2. Two kills by Shelby Cooper would put WPU up 8-3, with a few errors giving the Pacers a 14-5 lead. Kills by Cooper and Brittany Carpenter would bring the score to 21-10, while a final kill by Hannah Collier and an attack error would seal the set 25-15 for the Pacers.

Set Two (25-19)
Brittany Carpenter would get the Pacers going in set two with a few early kills to lead 4-2. Pfeiffer would take an 8-4 lead, but a few errors would tie it up 8-8. The set would go back-and-forth for a bit, with kills by Nancy Gamewell and Brittany Carpenter putting the Pacers up 17-15. The Pacers would go on a 7-point run to clinch the set 25-19 and lead the game 2-0.

Set Three (25-22)
The final set would be the closest contest, though the Pacers would take an early 10-3 lead on kills by Landis Limon and Hannah Collier. The Falcons would battle back to trail by 12-11, but Brittany Carpenter and Brienna Laskowski would keep WPU in the lead by a score of 15-12. The Falcons would tie the game 20-20, but a final kill by Nancy Gamewell would win the set 25-22 and the game 2-0.

GAME TWO
Set One (25-18)

The Falcons would take an early 6-2 lead in the first set, before a few service aces and kills by Brittany Carpenter would tie it 11-11. Carpenter and Hannah Collier would put the Pacers in the lead 15-11, with a kill from Shelby Cooper bringing the score to 20-14. An attack error would win the set for the Pacers 25-18.

Set Two (21-25)
In the second set, the Falcons would start strong to again lead 6-2. The Pacers would go on a 6-point run to lead 8-6, with kills from Brienna Laskowski putting them up 15-11. The Falcons would battle back to lead 19-16, eventually sealing the set 25-21 on a kull by Wyatt Reagan to tie the game 1-1.

Set Three (25-17)
The Pacers would take an early 3-1 lead with kills from Brienna Laskowski and Kelsey Bierbauer. Bierbauer and Laskwoski would continue to lead the team in this set, putting the Pacers up 16-12 as the Falcons attempted to decrease the Pacer lead. The team would go on a 4-point run to end the set 25-16 and to take a 2-1 lead in the game.

Set Four (25-17)
In the final set, the Pacers would begin with an early 4-0 advantage with kills from Shelby Cooper and Kelsey Bierbauer. The Falcons would take a brief 8-7 lead, but kills from Bierbauer and Cooper would again put the Pacers on top 14-10. WPU would dominate for the remainder of the set, eventually closing the set 25-17 to win 3-1.
