Pacers Bats Come Alive In Sweep Of Meredith

Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University softball swept Meredith College in a non conference matchup by scores of 11-5 and 8-0. The Pacers took early leads in both games, with excellent pitching from Raynee Redington, Summer Jacobs, and Katherine Murphy keeping the Meredith offense at bay.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE
The Pacers would get out to an early 3-0 lead, as Candice Smith would hit one over the fence for a 3 RBIs the bottom of the 1st. Nadia Pittman would follow that up with her own homerun, scoring Lauren Conway to increase the Pacer lead to 5-0. Meredith would cut the Pacer lead down to 5-2 at the top of the 3rd on a 2-RBI double to trail 5-2, but the Pacers would respond in the bottom of the inning as Kristina Mojica's double would bring home Lydia Hunt and Lauren Conway to bring the score to 7-2. Nadia Pittman would add another RBI in the bottom of the 4th, with Rayne Redington adding her own in the bottom of the 5th as the Pacers led 9-2. Mojica would double in the bottom of the sixth for the final Pacer run, with the team able to secure a 10-5 victory.
 
GAME TWO
Neither team would be able to get on the scoreboard until the bottom of the first, when Candice Smith's double to right field would get the Pacers on the board 1-0. Lauren Conway and Nadia Pittman would both add RBIs, with a double by Erica James giving the Pacers a 5-0 advantage. In the bottom of the 4th, Pittman would add a single to bring the score to 6-0. The bottom of the 5th would prove to be the final inning as the Candice Smith's single to the right field fence would put the Pacers ahead 8-0, securing their second victory of the day.
