Pacers Split Series With NCWC

Rocky Mount, NC -- William Peace University softball split a USA South doubleheader contest with NC Wesleyan College. The Pacers fell 9-1 in game one, but battled back to win game two 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE

The Battling Bishops would get on the board early, with a homerun by B. Braswell bringing in two runs in the bottom of the first to lead 2-0. A few singles in the bottom of the second would increase the NCWC lead to 4-0. An error would allow the Pacers to get on the board in the bottom of the fourth as they trailed 4-1. The Battling Bishops would continue to swing the bats in the bottom of the fifth to score five runs and seal the game 9-1.
 
GAME TWO
Kiley Martinez would get the Pacers on the board early, as her RBI would bring in Raynee Redington to lead 1-0. The game would then become a battle between pitchers, as Katherine Murphy would throw an impressive game to keep NCWC from scoring, allowing just two hits throughout the game. Neither team would gain any traction until the top of the seventh, with a sacrifice fly from Emily Puckett and a steal to home by Raynee Redington would give the Pacers a 4-0 lead. Candice Smith would hit her second home run of the week to bring the score to 6-0. A 3-RBI home run in the bottom of the inning by NCWC would cut the Pacer to 6-3, but the team would hang out for the 6-3 win.

The Pacers will head to Greensboro College on Saturday, April 3rd for a doubleheader match-up. Game one is set to begin at 1PM.
