Cary, NC -- William Peace University baseball swept a double header against Averett University. The Pacers would win the first game in the bottom of the 9th with a walk-off sacrifice fly by
Hunter Ward to win 4-3. In game two, the Pacers would dominate play to win 8-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One - The Pacers would get things going in the bottom of the second, with
Nathan Holt scoring the first run and a single by
Gavin Taylor bringing home
Logan Barbour to give the Pacers a 2-0 lead. The Cougars would tie it up 2-2 on two singles, before taking a 3-2 lead on another single to right field. Neither team was able to get much going, with pitcher Philipp Berger notching 5 strikeouts in 7 innings. In the bottom of the 8th, a single from
Gavin Taylor would score
Hunter Ward to tie it up 3-3. T
Logan Flowers would relieve Berger for the last two innings, shutting them down before a sacrifice fly by
Hunter Ward would bring home
Nathan Holt to secure the 4-3 win for WPU.
Game Two - Alec Seaton would score in the bottom of the first to give the Pacers an earl 1-0 lead. Soon after,
Tyler Vaughn would score off of a single from
Nathan Holt, bringing the score to 2-0. In the bottom of the third, a homerun from
Tyler Vaughn would bring home 3 runs to give WPU a 5-0 advantage. In the fourth inning, the Cougars would get on the board off a double, however in the bottom of the inning a single from
Gavin Taylor would score
Tate Proctor to bring the score to 6-1 in favor of the Pacers. The fifth inning would see the final two runs of the game as a single from
Hunter Ward and an error would secure an 8-1 Pacer victory.
