Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University men's soccer team won a thrilling contest over Methodist University 2-1 in overtime.
Jorge Lemus and
Rush Campbell scored for the Pacers, with Campbell notching the overtime winner and
Jorge Aguilar assisting on both goals. The Pacers now improve to 4-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Methodist would control the early game, as Pacer goalkeeper Jacob Smith would be tested just over a minute into the game. Trent Powell would put two early shots on Smith, who would make both saves to keep it scoreless. Jorge Lemus would have several chances in the first half, with a few shots going just high. Neither team would get much going, though the Pacers would control possession near the end of the half as the game went into halftime still scoreless.
In the second half, the Pacers would dominate play as several chances would be blocked by the Monarchs' defense. A handball by the Monarchs would lead to a penalty kick opportunity for Jorge Lemus, but Monarchs' goalkeeper Cole Hupp would make a strong save. Minutes later, Lemus would beat Hupp from just outside the box following a pass from Jorge Aguilar to take a 1-0 lead. Brandon Cohen would tie the game 1-1 after a defensive mistake from the Pacers. The Pacers were unable to respond before the end of the half, sending the game into overtime tied 1-1.
Jorge Aguilar would nearly score a few minutes into overtime, but his shot would be blocked. Nathan Seery's blocked shot would lead to a corner kick, taken by Jorge Aguilar. Aguilar would serve the corner kick and find a leaping Rush Campbell who was able to head it in far post winning the game 2-1 for the Pacers.

The Pacers will host Pfeiffer University on March 28th to wrap up the regular season. The game is set for 3PM.
