Pacers Sweep Meredith In Thrilling Matchup

Brevard, NC -- William Peace University Volleyball swept in a double header against Meredith College. The Pacers would come out buzzing as they won the first 3 sets of the first game. In game two, The Pacers would start off a little rocky as they would be pushed all the way to the 5th set. The Pacers would dominate the set however, to come out victorious.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One - The first set would start off neck and neck as neither team could keep a strong lead for long. Shelby Cooper would get a kill to put the Pacers up 8-4 however, the Monarchs would respond by going on a 7-point run to regain the lead. The Pacers would eventually make a comeback and take the set over with a score of 30-28. The second set would be the same as the first as neither team could create a gap for long enough to secure a clear victory. The Pacers would then go on a 5-point run ending with a service ace from Bergin Gillespie. The Pacers would find themselves with a big enough gap to get the win with a score of 25-21. In the third and final set, the game would start off even once again before the Pacers  would go on a 6-point streak to make the score 22-18. The Pacers would take the final set with a score of 25-20 which would give the Pacers a clean sweep in game one. 

Game Two - Meredith would get the early lead in the first set as an attack error from Brienna Laskowski would put Meredith up 10-5. The Pacers would try to come back but would not be able to do so as Meredith would take the first set 25-20. The second set would be evenly matched as neither side would be able to get a large lead.An attack error from Hailey Long would turn the tide for the Pacers as they would soon take over and win the second set 25-17.In the third set, the Pacers would take the early lead this time going up 12-3. The Pacers would maintain this lead for the remainder of the third set as they would come out victorious in the third set with a score of 25-15. The fourth set would be very even with both teams staying very close The Pacers would not be able gain a lead over Meredith before a service ace from Alley Copenhaver would seal the set victory for Meredith finishing with a score of 25-21. In the fifth and final set, The Pacers would come out firing on all cylinders notching a lead of 12-3. A kill by Landis Limon would seal the deal for the Pacers as they swept the double header, ending with a score of 15-6.

  • Avery Bowman ended with 9 kills and 9 digs in the first game.
STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Pacers notched 5 service aces in comparison to Meredith's 4 in game one.
  • The Pacers finished with 11 service aces in comparison to Meredith's 3 in game two.
