Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University Men's Basketball team fell to NC Wesleyan in game two of their series 81-82 in what might be a candidate for game of the year in the USA South. The Pacers controlled much of the game but it would come down to the wire as the Battling Bishop would fight back and would use a last second shot from Damon McDowell to propel them to the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Pacers would start out the game with a 7-0 run to take an early lead. The Pacers would control the first half as they shot an impressive 53.3% from the field on 16 of 30 shooting. Jalen Owens would score 10 of his 19 points in the first half. Owens would hit two 3-pointers in the first half one of them would give the Pacers a 16 point lead with 5:50 remaining in the first half of play. The Pacers largest lead of the first half would come late in the first half as a free throw by Donolly Tyrell Jr. with 1:34 remaining in the half would give the Pacers a 45-23 lead. At the Half William Peace would go in leading by a score of 46-26.

In the second half Damon Mcdowell would score the first 7 points of the half for the Battling Bishops. The Pacers would however find an answer thanks in part to timely baskets from Beau Bryant and Jalen Owens. With 14:08 remaining in the second half of play, Donolly Tyrell Jr. would give the Pacers their largest lead of the game at 61-38. The Momentum would shift from there as the Bishops would up with key defensive stops down the stretch and Damon McDowell would take over. McDowell along with Tim Pettiford would hit timely baskets down the stretch in the second half to help cut the Pacers lead to 3 with 3:23 left in the game. After a made free-throw by Tyler Parton the Pacers would again lead by 5 with under 2 minutes left in the game.McDowell would then go on two hit two 3-pointers to propel NC Wesleyan to a 1 point lead with 37 seconds left. Donolly Tyrell Jr. would answer with a hard earned layup to give the lead back to the Pacers with 19 Seconds left. After a timeout the Bishops would come out and it would again be McDowell who came up big as he would hit the game winning layup with 1 second left on the clock.

It was a highly contested game on the boards as the Pacers finished with 31 rebounds to the Bishops 32.

Both teams shot the ball well from the field as the Pacers shot 51.8% and NC Wesleyan would shoot 50%.
