Women's Basketball Wins Big On Senior Night

Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball defeated Methodist University by a score of 107-60 on senior night. The Pacers honored seniors Sydney Austin, Jaymesha Sanders, and Tatianna Occena with a big win to start off the two-game series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pacers would come straight out of the gate as Sydney Austin started the Pacers off with a layup to put them on the board first. Stephanie Chandler had some free throws to put the team up two points to lead 19-10. Maria Devincenzo's 3-pointer finished off the first quarter to lead 22-10.
  • While on a fastbreak, Lauryn Cross came out with a layup to put the Pacers up 22-15. Sydney Austin would make a few free throws to increase the close lead to 28-25. Pamela Mock had two layups to bring the score to 38-32, while Alyisah Taylor would score a jumper to bring the score to 40-35 before half time.
  • Coming out of the half with a fastbreak, Sydney Austin had a layup to start the Pacers off as they led 42-35. Tatianna Occena had consecutive free throw opportunities to help bring the 10-point lead to 45-35 and again later for a score of 49-37. Stephanie Chandler scored a jumper to increase the lead to 67-46, and right before the buzzer, Tatianna Occena would drain a shot from behind the arc to close out the third quarter with a 73-50 lead.
  • Cierra Baker and Lauryn Cross both scored layups to start the quarter with a 77-50 lead. On another fastbreak, Sydney Austin scored a layup for a score of 87-52. Nautica Falls scored off a free throw to bring the score to 100-85, while Myla Barnes closed the game out with a jumper for the 107-60 win.

  • Tyzarea Alexander tallied 17 points and 8 rebounds.
