First Half Sends Meredith Over Pacers

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball fell 64-51 to Meredith College. The first quarter would be a back-and-forth matchup, but a strong second quarter from the Avenging Angels would put Meredith ahead 41-25 heading into halftime. The Pacers would battle back but would ultimately fall 64-51.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game would be tied early 6-6, with a free throw from Pamela Mock putting WPU up 7-6. Mock would drive under the net for another 2 to bring the score to 11-8, while a 3-pointer from Cierra Baker would put the Pacers up 14-8. Meredith would battle back within 3 as the Pacers led 18-15, getting a few late stops to send the game into the 2nd quarter tied 20-20.
  • The Avenging Angels would put up a big second quarter, going on an early run to lead 28-20. A few consecutive 3-pointers from Meredith's Lindsay Bell would bring the score to 34-22. Meredith would continue to keep the Pacers from scoring, taking a 41-25 lead heading into halftime.
  • A jumper from Kiera Williams and a layup from Pamela Mock would bring the score to 45-29 as the Pacers battled back in the 3rd quarter. The Avenging Angels would take a 20-point lead on a jumper from Piper Carriere to lead 51-31. The Pacers would get a few good last stops, with free throws from Stormie Brown and a layup from Stephanie Chandler bringing the score to 51-39 heading into the final quarter.

A layup from Arianna Hamilton and a jumper from Shelby Wolfe would bring the score to 55-47, Hamilton would add two shots from the foul line and another layup to put the Pacers within 4 as they trailed 55-51. Meredith however would tally a few final layups to go on another run, taking a 64-51 win over the Pacers.
