Women's Basketball Falls To Nationally-Ranked CNU

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball fell to an undefeated, Nationally-ranked Christopher Newport University by a score of 118-43. The Pacers look to bounce back as they return to the Hermann Athletic Center on December 11th to host Meredith College at 2PM.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Captains would get out to a dominant start in the first quarter to lead 19-4. A jumper from Myla Barnes would bring it to 19-6, with Barnes adding another as the Pacers trailed 21-8. A few consecutive drives under the net and a shot from behind the arc for the Captains would give them a 32-12 advantage heading into the second quarter.
  • The Captains would hold the Pacers early in the second quarter, going on a 20-point run to lead 52-12. Nautica Falls would break the run with a layup, with Kiera Williams adding her own layup as the Pacers trailed 54-16. The Captains would not let up, taking advantage of a few last shots from the foul line to lead 64-17 at the half.
  • In the third quarter, a layup by Pamela Mock would interrupt a run from the Captains as they led the Pacers 74-20. Cierra Baker would put up a shot from behind the arc to bring the score to 79-25m but the Captains would continue to drive under the net to lead 88-29. They would go on an eleven point run to end the third quarter, leading 99-29 before a layup from Kiera Williams would bring it to 99-31.
  • In the final quarter, Kiera Williams would add an early shot from the foul line and a layup as the Pacers trailed 99-34. A few free throws for CNU would bring the score to 101-34, with a few free throws from Kiera Williams bringing the game to 108-39. The Captains would continue to put pressure on the Pacers, finishing the game with a score of 118-43.
