Pacers Fall To The Battling Bishops

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball fell to North Carolina Wesleyan College by a score of 72-60. The Pacers will return to play tomorrow as they head to Christopher Newport University to take on the Captains at 6 PM.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pacers would take an early 6-2 lead with a drive under the net from Pamela Mock. A jumper from Mock would put them up 12-7, but NCWC would battle back to take a 15-12 with a few shots from the foul line. Nautica Falls would tie the game back up 15-15 at the end of the first with a shot from the foul line.
  • The Battling Bishops would start rolling in the 2nd quarter, taking a 26-19 lead as they put up a few good stops. A jumper from Stephanie Chandler would cut the lead down to 30-21, with a layup from Chandler bringing the score to 30-25. A final drive from Pamela Mock would keep the Pacers in the game as they trailed 34-29 heading into halftime.
  • A few free throws would put the Battling Bishops up 40-33 early in the third quarter. A run would give them a 17-point lead before a free throw from Shelby Cooper would put the game at 52-36. NCWC would continue to capitalize on free throw opportunities, with a final three-point shot putting them ahead 61-43 heading into the final quarter.
  • In the final quarter, a layup from Kiera Williams would cut down the NCWC lead to 64-48. A few shots from the foul line by Williams and a jumper from Stephanie Chandler would bring the score to 69-54 with NCWC still leading. Arianna Hamilton would put up 3 near the end of the quarter, but the Battling Bishops would hold off the Pacers to win 72-60.
