Pacers Improve To 7-1 In USA South Conference Play With Methodist Tri-Match Sweep

FAYETTEVILLE, NC -- William Peace University volleyball picked up two big conference wins at the Methodist University Tri-Match as they swept both Greensboro College and Methodist University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE - GREENSBORO

Set One (28-26)
The Pride would take an early lead in game one before a kill by Kelsey Bierbauer would tie the set 5-5. Kills by Hannah Collier and Mackenzie Russell would give the Pacers an 8-6 lead before a 4-point run would put them ahead 15-9. The Pride would go on a 6-point run to trail by one at 17-16 before tying the set 22-22. They would then take a 24-22 lead over the Pacers, but kills by Landis Limon and a service ace from Hannah Collier would regain a 25-24 Pacer lead. Two kills from Kelsey Bierbauer would clinch the set for the Pacers at 28-26.

Set Two (25-23)
The Pride would go on an early run in set two to lead 8-4 before increasing their lead to 14-7. A 4-point run by the Pacers would cut the Pride lead to 14-11, but the Pride would continue to hold the advantage to lead 19-13. The Pacers would go on two runs with kills by Shelby Cooper and Kelsey Bierbauer to make an impressive comeback and tie the set 20-20. The Pacers would end the set with a 4-point run to win 25-23 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Set Three (25-17)
Greensboro would again take an early lead in set 3 as the Pacers trailed 5-1. A 6-point run with kills by Hannah Collier, Landis Limon, and Georgia Grace Anderson and a service ace from Logan Moore would give the Pacers an 11-8 lead. Kills from Kelsey Bierbauer and Shelby Cooper would increase that lead to 19-13. A final kill by Hannah Collier from Mackenzie Russell would win the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.

GAME TWO - METHODIST

Set One (25-15)
The Pacers would take an early 5-2 lead in set one with kills by Kelsey Bierbauer, Shelby Cooper, and Georgia Grace Anderson. A kill by Landis Limon and a service ace from Mackenzie Russell would bring the score to 14-8 in favor of the Pacers. The Pacers would go on an impressive run at the end of the set to lead 23-12 with kills by Mackenzie Russell, Shelby Cooper, and Georgia Grace Anderson, and would finish the set 25-15.

Set Two (25-16)
In set two, the Pacers would take an early 3-0 lead. A 4-point run with kills by Hannah Collier, Landis Limon, and Mackenzie Russell would increase the Pacer lead to 13-6. Another 4-point run would put the Pacers up 17-9. Final kills by Georgia Grace Anderson and Kelsey Bierbauer would seal the set 25-16 for the Pacers and put them up 2-0 in the match.

Set Three (25-15)
The Monarchs would take an early 6-4 lead in the final set before two kills by Kelsey Bierbauer would tie it 6-6. An impressive 7-point run with kills by Landis Limon, Kelsey Bierbauer, and Georgia Grace Anderson as well as two service aces from Emerson Scollo would put the Pacers ahead 19-11. The Pacers would go on a final 4-point run to win the set 25-15 and the game 3-0.

  • Carly Uhlir tallied 12 kills in game one for the Pride.
  • Lauren Mantel notched 20 digs in game one for the Pride.
  • Jeanana Fowler led the Monarchs in game two with 10 kills.
