Volleyball Wins 5th In A Row With Sweep Over NCWC

RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University volleyball swept N.C. Wesleyan College 3-0 in a high-energy contest. The Pacers are now on a 5-game winning streak and are 8-1 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One (25-20)
The first set would start out as a back-and-forth matchup as a kill by Georgia Grace Anderson would tie it 5-5. A block from Mackenzie Russell and Landis Limon and a kill from Hannah Collier would give the Pacers a 12-8 advantage. A kill by Shelby Cooper would increase the lead to 18-13. The Pacers would continue to push forward even as NCWC battled back, with kills from Hannah Collier, Kelsey Bierbauer, and Landis Limon finishing the set 25-20 in favor of WPU.

Set Two (27-25)
The Battling Bishops would take an early 4-1 lead before a service ace from Emerson Scollo would tie it 5-5. NCWC would take a 14-11 lead, and would continue to just edge out the Pacers as they led 20-18. The Pacers would fight as a kill from Hannah Collier put them on top 21-20. The game would continue to go back-and-forth as NCWC tied it up 25-25, but two final kills from Kelsey Bierbauer and Shelby Cooper, assisted by Mackenzie Russell, would win the set 27-25 for the Pacers as they went up 2-0 in the match.

Set Three (25-16)
The Pacers would dominate in set three, taking a controlling 8-1 lead with service aced from Mackenzie Russell and Hannah Collier and kills from Landis Limon, Kelsey Bierbauer, and Collier. Another kill from Limon would increase their lead to 13-7 as the Battling Bishops began to gain some traction. Kills from Kelsey Bierbauer would bring the score to 18-11, with a three point run with kills by Hannah Collier and a service ace from Logan Moore giving the Pacers a 22-15 lead. Collier would put up the final kills of the match to secure a 25-16 win in set three and a 3-0 win in the game.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS FOR THE FOES
  • Michaela Seawell led NCWC with 13 kills.
  • Sloan Martin added 35 assists while Kira Kristjanson notched 21 digs.
